Favelas Brasil

FaveLA was started by a Brazilian skateboarder and his crew in Los Angeles, CA in 2006.

The Name:

A favela is a type of low-income informal settlement in Brazil that has experienced historical governmental neglect. Despite the hardships, it’s a strong, colorful, vibrant community.

As a double entendre, FaveLA also stands for Los Angeles Favorites. Kids that grew up watching skateboarding videos featuring the streets of LA, often dreamed of coming to this city to skateboard.

Why FaveLA exists:

To a lot of the kids in these favelas and all around the world, skateboarding is everything. In some instances, their skateboard might be their only possession.

FaveLA exists to help skateboarding dreams come true for people from all walks of life around the globe.

Our love of skating the streets brings us together, uniting skate nations. #homiesunidos
